The latest cut from the excellent Stankonia to be culled as a single, ‘So Fresh, So Clean’ doesn’t have the toe-tapping, singalongability of ‘Miss Jackson’ but it is a wonderfully funked-up, soulful slice of modern hip-hop that avoids the genre’s more tiresome clichés. Instead, Outkast concentrate on keeping it funky, with a middle-eight most other hip-hop acts would trade their gang-names for. The Fatboy Slim remix is worth the price of admission alone, and is sure to be a floor-filler all over the land.
