Softly Held Together [free album]
The human element of Cork electronica outfit Carried By Waves has miraculously remained a mystery since the project’s inception in 2010, but while debut album Softly Held Together doesn’t exactly spill the beans, it does shed some light on its elusive conductor. Writing, production, engineering and mixing on the record are all attributed to the same man whose cleverly doctored vocal typifies the Carried By Waves sound – alright, so it’s not a major revelation, but at least we can cut our list of suspects in half! Guest appearances by Foxglove and Karen O’Doherty compliment the bouncier, popper direction taken by Mr. X on his first L.P., while his darting trademark beats and dreamy melodies make for an altogether charming debut. Get it for the unbelievable price of zilch.
