Today (September 17) marks what would have been the pop-star's 38th birthday
The Google Doodle today pays tribute to the late Glasgow-born producer and artist Sophie Xeon.
In celebration of what would have been Sophie's 38th birthday, Google released a short video with portraits of Sophie and her synthesiser, featuring her song 'Immaterial'.
Sophie was known for her pioneering of underground electronic music and hyperpop, and producing for pop artists Charli XCX, 100 gecs, Kim Petras and Madonna.
The producer has performed on at events like Coachella and Unsound Festival in 2019. Later that year, Sophie DJ'd alongside fellow transgender electronic star and collaborator Arca at Primavera Sound.

The video from Google is captioned: “This video Doodle celebrates the birthday of Scottish musician, producer, and DJ Sophie Xeon, who is remembered for her acclaimed experimental pop and electronic music.”
The pop-star died at age 34 after falling from a balcony of her apartment in Athens, Greece, a death which shook the queer community, that widely regards her as an icon.
It was confirmed by Athens police that Sophie had fallen while trying to take pictures of the full moon, which fan's have dubbed "Sophie's moon."
