Sophie Ellis-Bextor capitalises on the recent resurgence of her 2001 song after is appearance in ‘Saltburn’ by announcing its release on 7-inch vinyl.
English disco/pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor has released the beloved single ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ for pre-order on vinyl and CD. Set to hit stores on 16th February via Polydor/Universal, the 2001 song will appear on blood red 7-inch and limited edition red CD.

The song was first released as a part of Ellies-Bextor’s debut album Read My Lips, making its way to No. 2 on the UK charts in 2001 and quickly becoming a disco-pop anthem.
The song was revived on the charts in recent weeks after its use in Emerald Fennell’s psychological thriller Saltburn, landing back at No. 2 more than two decades later.

Played during the film’s final scene which follows star Barry Keoghan as he dances through the house naked, Ellis-Bextor’s hit has also found viral success on TikTok as users recreate the memorable nude scene (fully clothed and fit for PG audiences, of course).
'Murder on the Dancefloor' has become the latest installment in the pattern of old songs reclaimed by young audiences through film and TV, following in the footsteps of Kate Bush's 'Running Up That Hill' from Stranger Things and Matchbox Twenty's 'Push,' seen last year in Barbie.
