Sorcha Richardson shares her EP memories...
The first time I went to Electric Picnic I was 18. It was the first weekend of sixth year. And me and five of my friends left school on Friday and got the bus to Stradbally for the weekend. I remember we saw our teacher there and we were like, ‘You never saw us!’ And she was like ‘You never saw me!' I saw Mitski, which was unbelievable, and A-Trak do a DJ set in the tent for about 150 people.
I wasn't playing at the 2019 edition but I had to do one song, which was sweet because it meant I got a free ticket. Charlie XCX was class.
I saw Meltybrains? play at the Salty Dog stage really late in the night. It was one of those moments you just stumble upon in the woods.
I love going to festivals because you see all your pals and witness an insane amount of great music. The Irish scene is in such a good place. The Irish contingent of the lineups is always the best part. For Electric Picnic 2022, it’s fantastic. There's a real unpredictability to festivals, but you just have to just ride whatever wave you find when you get there. That's part of the fun. Everyone's committed to a bit of chaos for the whole weekend, so you have to embrace it.
I really want to see Perfume Genius. Two of my friends play in his band so I’m just praying there aren’t any clashes. Wolf Alice as well – and Little Simz is probably top of my list. Her live show looks so good, she could absolutely be a headliner. I've never seen Arctic Monkeys live, so I can’t wait for them. They're my top international artists to see.
