The Ballyporeen native has been making us swoon for 17 years...
Hailing from the same Tipperary village, Ballyporeen, as Ronald Reagan's ancestors, Gemma Hayes burst onto the scene in 2001 with 4:35am, the EP predecessor to her debut album, Night On My Side.
As effortlessly cool as her Source Records labelmates Phoenix, Turin Breaks and Air, she immediately amassed a loyal following with her gorgeously cinematic pop. The owner of one of the great Irish voices, Gemma's kept far too low a profile of late for our and Beat 102-103's liking, but is sure to feature prominently in the South East's All-Time Top 30 Songs. There's a good chance Rob O'Connor will be playing a classic or two by her on Sunday from 6-8pm when he returns with another action-packed Irish Beats!
