Jamiroquai: “Space Cowboy (The Return)” (Sony)

The comparisons with Stevie Wonder can only be stretched so far before one wonders if Jason Kaye is ever really going to make anything as vital and vibrant as Mr Wonder. Politely speaking ‘Space Cowboy’ is ‘mood music’ for headless (and heartless) get-togethers. To be fair, though, Jamiroquai’s jazz inflections are more suited to the album than the single groove and seem incongruous and anonymous in a pop format.
