Roll up, roll up - the Spiegeltent is now open for business in Dublin...
Making its return to Dublin as part of this year's Fringe Festival, the new-look Spiegeltent was last night unveiled in all its mirrored glory.
Situated on a floating pontoon at George's Dock (that's the new-look harbour in the IFSC), the bigger (600 capacity) Spiegeltent will host over sixty cultural performances, encompasssing burlesque circus, film, dance, karaoke, yoga classes and music.
Tonight, September 21, the Spiegeltent will host the legendary American jazz pianist, Bob Dorough. Appropriately, he's joined by an Irish jazz icon, Louis Stewart, with Colm O'Sullivan on flute.
While you'd have to check out www.fringefest.com for the full listings, hotpress.com recommends the following gigs to all Spiegel-seekers: Leaf Records' Colleen (September 25), Nina Hynes & The Husbands (26), Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club (27), Chuzzle (28), A Little Mór (29), Jamie Lidell and Kistar (30) and Afrodizz (October 8).

It doesn't fall into the musical category, per se, but readers might also be interested in The Tassel Club - an adults-only neo-burlesque circus courtesy of the infamous London club. If the press blurb is anything to go by, the show could feature everything from "gender-bending strip teases" and "tasselled penises" to "titillating environmental surprises" and "popcorn".
Finally, if it's 'political cabaret' your after, the Spiegeltent hosts Leviathan - an evening of political debate, comedy and music – on September 24 and October 8. Guest speakers include Hot Press' Eamonn McCann and Dr. Steven King (UUP), with performances by Mark Steel, White Cholera and Camille O'Sullivan.
Tickets for the Spiegeltent events can be purchased online, by phone (1850 FRINGE), or in person at the Spiegeltent and the Fringe box office (43 Temple Bar).
