We caught up for a chat with acclaimed DJ Tech Support ahead of his appearance at Solas Festvial.
What made you want to become a DJ?
I’ve always been someone who hogged the aux cord at parties, so it seemed like a natural progression.
Describe your sound?
At the moment, I’m gravitating towards synthwave and Italo – they just work so well on big systems. They have a lot more top end punch compared to most modern house and techno, which is quite clean and bassy.
What’s been the proudest moment of your career to date?

Being in the crowd at Lost Village last year while Dan Shake played my track ‘Friends’ is up there. It was a pretty surreal moment hearing something I made on a laptop with Apple headphones, being played on a proper system, and seeing the reaction from the crowd around me!
Favourite gig (ever) and the reason why?
At Paloma Bar in Berlin earlier this year, for Nerang Records – I wouldn’t say it was my best set, but the crowd was so attentive and open to whatever I played. Everyone was on the same wavelength and the music fell into place so easily. Plus I got to play an extra 90 minutes which is always good!
What can people expect from your upcoming set at Solas?
I don’t plan my sets in advance, so I guess we’ll find out on the day! I’m a lot more open these days to playing different tempos outside the 120-130bpm I’m used to, so hopefully I get the chance to play some chuggers.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
I’m working on starting a label with a couple friends. At the moment we’re finalising the first three releases, and we’ll be aiming to get the first EP out some time towards the end of the year! In terms of my own productions, I’ve got an EP or two that will be out before the year’s done, and a handful of remixes I’m very excited to share.
