Good news everyone! One of Dublin’s best, dirtiest breaks duos are back in action!
Splitloop, aka Brendan Crowe and Phil Byrne, have a new release ‘Come With Me’ due October 16 on their own label, Toast Club Recordings. This will be Toast Club’s seventh outing and sees Splitloop deliver the goods yet again, via dirty old school brakes and a retro sheen. Check it here: bit.ly/QpDLzL.
The aroma of fresh vinyl is wafting from Swink Music, signalling happy days for label heads Max Conte and David Perkins, who’ve put a lot of hard work, love and effort into the platform. Swink’s first vinyl sortie features Manchester producers Si and Mike, aka DJs Si’Ke. The four-track Snap Back EP dabbles in full-bodied house, while the remixes, from Tenament Yard, Alex Agore and Malin Genie, bring solid two–step and garage. Arriving October 15. In Belfast, Figure Of 8 have a new EP, Bittersweet. Included are three originals, a dub mix, plus remixes from Digitalfoxglove, The Penelopes and Stephen Doherty. It’s the first Bandcamp outing for Figure Of 8, so feel free to empty your piggy banks in support of local music! Of course, if you’re back to school or plain broke he’s happy for you to take it for free... Enjoy here: bit.ly/Pui1Rj.

In Dublin, the tenth Hard Working Class Heroes festival has been and gone. The decade-long independent showcase of Irish music took place over three days, with over 100 bands and performers taking part. Amont them was local producer and film maker PolyDROID.
Otherwise known as Brian O’Malley, he is an avid collector of vintage analogue synths. His live show is a testament to that fondness; he also runs a live synth collective with Aidan Casserly, Night Of The Machines. The next installment takes place at NCH on December 13. Details at polydroid.com.
