Spotify Buys Music Recording Start-Up, Soundtrap
Spotify has bought the Stolkholm based start-up, which offers its users software to make music.
Soundtrap last year raised six million from eminent pop music producers, as well as from Spotify’s former finance officer, Peter Sterky. In the same vein as Garageband, Soundtrap is the latest in a string of small deals for Spotify.
According to a statement made by the streaming service, Sountrap is “highly aligned with Spotify’s vision of democratizing the music ecosystem”. The company has also backed several other small start-ups, which specialise in artificial intelligence and data science. This comes as an attempt to drive people towards music through the Spotify app.
