Wall's debut album will be launched tomorrow, consisting of a medley of spoken word and folk inspired melodies.
Dublin born Steo first began writing songs when he was young after his uncle taught him how to play guitar. However, he admits falling out of love with it for a period of time until he moved to Clare. After the move west his inspiration soared and this is where he recorded his first album. Recorded in Malbay Studios, Where I'm From features a wide range of local musicians along with contributions from well known names such as Davy Spillane, Luka Bloom and Damien Dempsey.
Dempsey in particular has long been a fan of Wall's. Speaking about their relationship Wall stated "I saw Damon at a small gig years ago and after we got talking I played him one of the first songs I ever wrote, called Pikey Rap, and it made such an impression on him that he gave me a shout out in Hot Press. Years later he was playing a gig in Spanish Point and Jacinta [Wall's partner] knew his tour manager so I managed to get up to his hotel room and we reconnected, swapped contact details and I ended up going on tour with him in 2016".
Dempsey says that "to see Steo Live on stage is alchemy, the vibe he exudes wins over the crowd every time and they're chewing at the palm of his hand. No lies or gimmicks, no ulterior motives. He's the real article. This is Irish soul music".
