Hot Press has partnered with Lyons Tea and Pieta House to broaden the conversation around mental health. In addition to our 100 Voices special in the current issue of Hot Press, we set about recording a series of special videos on the theme...
In a special video series, artists and bands have joined the 'Now We're Talking' campaign, recording songs related to the issue of mental health.
In our latest video, filmed at Outhouse in Dublin, Stephanie Rainey talks to us about mental health and sings '100 Like Me', one of the most beautiful and empowering songs about mental illness.
Speaking about the song, Stephanie Rainey says: "Growing up as a teenager, I always had this feeling that problems were way bigger in my head than they actually were. Then as I grew up, I realised that that kind of isolation is an unnecessary feeling because everyone is going through something, and most people are going through simple things. [When writing the song] I was chatting about isolation and I think I said 'You feel a certain way but then you realise there are a hundred people like you. So that became the name of the song. Then from that, it grew into this anthemic vibe, saying'You aren't alone'."
The video series was filmed as part of the 'Now We're Talking' mental health campaign, being run in partnership by Hot Press, Lyons Tea and Pieta House – the suicide and self-harm crisis charity – which aims to take the conversation around mental health in Ireland on to the next level. The video is directed by Hot Press' Rowan Stokes.
