Cork singer Stephanie Rainey to compete in America's Got Talent quarter finals this evening
The hit U.S talent show draws in an estimated ten million viewers per season
Cork singer-songwriter Stephanie Rainey will be looking to impress the judges of America's Got Talent tonight (September 3), as she takes to the stage of the popular televised competition's quarter finals.
The 36-year-old from Glanmire been wowing U.S audiences with her original music so far, having performed her tune ‘Please Don’t Go’ earlier on in the competition.
"Of all the new songs I've heard this year, this is the best by a mile," said Simon Cowell of Rainey's track, which received four 'yeses' from judges Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofía Vergara.
This evening, Rainey will be joined by pianist Sarah Power, with the pair set to compete with 44 other acts. Performers can secure passage to the semis by either a public vote, or the coveted Golden Buzzer - with the latter granting contestants direct access to the grand final.
"For us, it's just another chance to play another song to that many people,” Rainey said on The Ray D'Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1. "Whatever about the outcome, it's just that amount of exposure is an unreal thing to get to do. We just think of it in terms of songs. We get to do another one, and hopefully, we'll get to do another two after that or another one after that."
