CMAT, Flogging Molly, Malojian and Colm Mac Con Iomaire are among those who have shared tributes to Steve Albini following news of his death yesterday
As the music world continues to process yesterday's shocking news of the death of Steve Albini, numerous Irish artists have shared their own tributes to the iconic American producer and musician.
Flogging Molly, who worked with Albini on several occasions, shared an emotional post on Facebook, stating that they "are heartbroken."
"Steve was there with us at the beginning of this band, recording our first two albums, and at the end with our last album Anthem," they resumed. "Through the years he was always a great friend and professional who put the music ahead of the business. Our deepest sympathies to Heather and all his loved ones. Thank you Steve, we love you."
Malojian also worked with the renowned recording engineer at his famous Electrical Audio studio in Chicago– with Albini featuring in the documentary Document: A Film About Malojian, which follows the making of the Lurgan act's 2016 album This Is Nowhere.

In an Instagram post, Malojian's Stevie Scullion stated that he was "shocked and saddened" by the news – remembering Albini as a "legendary recording genius and musician".
"I stayed in touch with him and would email him mundane questions about gear and studio design (or pencils!!) and he was always very generous with his time and expertise," he continued. "He was also really funny."
CMAT, meanwhile, described Albini as "a legend who will live forever", noting that his death is "such a loss."
"I actually had a song called ‘Steve Albini’ on the cutting room floor for CMAT album one about a guy I used to date who made a record with you," she added. "It was really bitchy you probably would have loved it...
"Also for what it’s worth, you will have a hard time trying to guess who this is. I know at least 10 people who made a record with Steve Albini because he was the ONLY producer in all of America that most of the musicians I know could afford. Sad to wonder who will do that now."
In his own Twitter post, Colm Mac Con Iomaire remembered The Frames finding "shelter from the storm in Electrical Audio in Chicago" around the year 2000, recording their album For The Birds.
"Steve was a prince," he wrote. "Straight as an arrow in a crooked forest. Suaimhneas síoraí Steve Albini."

Whipping Boy also paid tribute, stating that Albini was "an inspiration" to them and "so many bands of the 80s/90s."
As a recording engineer and producer, Albini will be widely remembered for his work with acts like Nirvana, Pixies and PJ Harvey, among many others. He was also a member of the band Shellac, who are scheduled to released their eagerly anticipated sixth studio album, To All Trains, next week.

RIP S Albini, here's a song that sounds great by a great band. And I nicked the title for a band name. https://t.co/amzSlWEZBX

Poor aul Steve Albini. What an incredible musician, songwriter, producer & advocate. His ‘sound’ is embedded in my psyche - been with me since I was 9 years old. His attitude to navigating the music industry was inspirational. This is a tough one. Condolences to his pals & family pic.twitter.com/aahEn8Yhjy

Shellac in the Limelight in Belfast about 10 years ago. Couldn't find a merch table after the gig then spotted Albini in the crowd with a bin bag of T-shirts taking tenners. DIY for life 🖤 pic.twitter.com/dcA0ytjMAO
