Scottish singer, songwriter, and producer Steve Mason will play Whelan’s on 27th November.
Rising to widespread critical acclaim in the late '90s as a member of indie darlings The Beta Band, Steve Mason is set to return to Dublin this November for a highly anticipated show.
With their creative approach and maverick attitude, The Beta Band earned a cult following among fans and the U.K. press during the post-Brit-pop era. During the Beta Band's heyday and following their 2004 breakup, Mason also recorded solo as King Biscuit Time, putting out a full album Black Gold in 2006.
In 2010, he released album Boys Outside under his own name, with production from Richard X. He has continued to release music as Steve Mason, following up with 2013's Monkey Minds In The Devil’s Time. Among its sprawling 20 tracks, the album explored depression, politics, and human nature, bringing together many genres to create a mesmerizing experience. His next record, 2016's Meet the Humans, focused on highly personal emotions and experiences, bringing aboard Craig Potter (Elbow) for production.
With a number of solo tours under his belt, Mason wished to recreate the same live energy on his next record; the resulting album, About the Light, featured a live band throughout the recording process and was released last January.
