The virtual festival takes place later this Friday.
To celebrate what would've been his 70th birthday this week, the Tom Petty estate have announced a virtual festival – featuring the likes of Beck, Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton, Adam Sandler, Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters, Jackson Browne, Lucinda Williams, Margo Price, Lenny Kravitz, Norah Jones, Rick Rubin, Spoon, Stevie Nicks and many more. Tom Petty's 70th Birthday Bash streams live on Friday, October 23, on tompetty.com.
In 2017, the first annual Tom Petty Birthday Bash was launched in Petty's hometown of Gainesville, Florida. From these roots as a free, six-hour-long festival, the event has grown into a fully-fledged music festival, featuring both local and national acts.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year's Tom Petty Birthday Bash will be held virtually – with five hours of performances, testimonials and tributes to Petty from friends and fans.
As well as a livestream, going live at 7pm EST (midnight Irish time) on October 23, the virtual festival will also be broadcast on Tom Petty Radio on SiriusXM from 4.30pm EST (9.30pm Irish time) – featuring performances and appearances from Jason Isbell, Kurt Vile, The Raconteurs, The Killers and more.
