The album package for The Tortured Poets Department features a surprise message for Taylor Swift written by Stevie Nicks
Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks have collaborated for Swift’s latest release, The Tortured Poets Department. The physical version of the album features handwritten poems by both artists.
Nicks’ contribution, written in Austin, Texas, is a reflection on love and loss, with lines like “He was in love with her / Or at least she thought so.” Swift’s poem, titled “In Summation,” offers a story from one romantic relationship to another.
In describing her transition from one love to another, Swift writes, “The chaos it brings / Leads the caged beast to do / The most curious things.”
She continues: “Lovers spend years denying what’s ill-fated / Resentment rotting away / galaxies we created,” before adding: “Tried wishing on comets / Tried dimming the shine / Tried to orbit his planet / Some stars never align / And in one conversation, I tore down the whole sky.”
Despite leaks, the album has gained significant attention, breaking records on platforms like Spotify for the most pre-saved album. Swift surprised fans by revealing that The Tortured Poets Department is a double album, offering more of her signature storytelling.
Although Spotify hasn’t shared the number of pre-saves Tortured Poets‘ page has garnered, the number is undoubtedly considerable. Swift’s 11th studio record is one of the most anticipated releases of the year, teed off by the success of 2022’s Midnights, which spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and snagged album of the year at the 2024 Grammys.
