Posters of their iconic lemon imagery - and talk of a 7pm announcement - have fans all aflutter
The appearance of posters of lemons doesn't usually spark a frenzy, but cryptic hints around Manchester suggest that major news from The Stone Roses may be arriving tonight.
The rock legends reunited for comeback gigs three years ago, but all has been relatively quiet since, save for the odd hint that new music was a possibility.
This morning, however, their iconic symbol was spotted on posters around their home town, causing fans to assume that the third coming is imminent.

Indeed, fellow Manchester musician Tim Burgess - of The Charlatans - and The Courteeners Liam Fray have got in on the act, suggesting that if those acts aren't involved as support or collaborators, they might well know something we don't.

16 lemons?
— Tim Burgess (@Tim_Burgess) November 2, 2015
Suggestions are that the 16 lemons might signify a new album in 2016 - which would be the first LP in more than 20 years. Other possibilities include a tour, and the prospect of a headline spot at Glastonbury; bookies have been feverishly slashing prices on the likelihood of a Worthy Farm visit.
Sources suggest that all should become clear at 7pm - cross those fingers and watch this space...
