City to be painted red, white and blue this July...
Derry/Londonderry, the UK City of Culture for 2013, is set to go American this July when the Stripes and Stars Americana festival comes to town. A crescendo of sight and sound, the festival aims to bring the very best of Americana culture to the North West.
The two-day festival takes place across a host of locations over Independence Day weekend, July 1 and 2, and will see the focus on three Americana themes; music, cinema and literature. Some of the top talent on show will include Lowly Knights, Murder Balldeers, The 1930s, Captain Kennedy, Sullivan & Gold, Wookalily, Rachel Austin, Porch Song Anthology, Acoustic Dan & The Black Mountain Dipsos, The Heads of State and The Sons of Caliber.
In addition to all the great music and performances on offer, there will also be a special one-off matinee screening of The Last Picture Show in The Nerve Centre.
And that's not all. The Tower Hotel in Derry have provided a fantastic overnight stay for two with evening dinner, bed and breakfast as an exclusive prize draw on behalf of Stripes and Stars.
