The Dublin four-piece describe the forthcoming record as a concept work detailing the course of one sleepless night.
Dublin-based DIY punk outfit Stupid Son will release their debut EP Comedy on 29 February 2024.
The record includes lead singles 'Mould, 'Family Dog' and 'Dylan's Brain,' which were released late last year.
The self-released work has seen early signs of momentum and traction, with the band performing songs from the EP on a live radio segment for BBC6 Music's New Music Fix Daily, and securing a slot at Whelan's Ones to Watch festival in January 2024.
Blending stylistic nods from art punk, lo-fi and alternative rock, Comedy sets the scene for all of the internal players staving off a good night’s sleep. Inspired by nightmares, racing thoughts and malfunctioning window treatments, Comedy strives to make light of them.
The release serves as Stupid Son's return from a pandemic-induced hiatus. Having already released three singles, the band is at the ready for an exciting year ahead. Handling all of their planning, artwork and music videos themselves, 2024 will see the quartet perform shows throughout Ireland and the UK as they continue work to work on new material.

The seven-track EP was recorded, mixed and mastered by Darragh Hansard (Thee U.F.O) at Orc’s Lair Studio in Dublin. The extended play also features Aaron Hegarty (drums), Andrew Pierce (guitar, vocals), Conall Loughney (guitar, vocals) and Robert Broaders (bass). Lyrics were written by Conall and Andrew, with Broaders supplying the album’s artwork.
