Sufjan Stevens- the master of indie and alternative Christmas music has launched an official 'yule log' video that will be soundtracked by the musician’s many festive songs.

Released through Steven's independent record label Asthmatic Kitty, the new video will be two hours long.

“This video is ideal for your favourite holiday activities: decorating the tree, baking, making calls to loved ones, or enjoying hot cocoa,” the label promises.

The yule log video—directed, filmed, and edited by Brian Paccione—premieres today Friday December 1st.

Sufjan Stevens released his first Christmas album, Songs for Christmas, in 2006. He shared his second yuletide music collection, Silver & Gold, in 2012. Both albums feature more than two hours of music each.

2023 has been a turbulent year for Stevens after he revealed in an Instagram post that the singer had been hospitalised the previous month and diagnosed with Guillain–Barré syndrome. He wrote that he was undergoing physical rehabilitation to 'relearn how to walk' after the illness.

Stevens thanked fans for their thoughts and prayers and concluded the post saying "Be well, be joyful, stay sane, stay safe. I love you".

In October of this year Stevens released his tenth studio album titled Javelin, which the artist dedicated to 'the light of my life, my beloved partner and best friend Evans Richardson, who passed away in April'.

Javelin, "a testament to ‘70s Los Angeles studio opulence" featured guitars from The National's Bryce Dessner who's worked alongside a plethora of influential musicians including Taylor Swift and Bon Iver.
