Sufjan Stevens releases new track, announces collaborative album with stepfather
The instrumental album, Aporia, is due in March.
Sufjan Stevens has announced a new collaborative album with his stepfather Lowell Brams (the Lowell of Carrie and Lowell) called Aporia, out March 27. It's their second collaboration, the other being the instrumental Music For Insomnia, released in 2008.
The first single, 'The Unlimited,' is a beautifully atmospheric and somewhat haunting instrumental track. Stevens also curated a companion Spotify playlist, featuring songs that inspired Aporia.
The album was recorded over the span of several years, according to Stevens. He writes in a press release: "You know how it is with jamming, ninety percent of it is absolutely horrible, but if you’re just lucky enough, ten percent is magic. I just kept pulling out these little magical moments."
