Tickets for the first night of the Sugarcoat Sessions – featuring Gemma Cox, Trophy Wife and Last Apollo – are available now.
Sugar Sessions, a brand new monthly music night, is set to launch at The Grand Social in Dublin on March 15 – with performances from Gemma Cox, Trophy Wife and Last Apollo.
Sugarcoat Sessions was set up in order "to showcase under-represented genders in the music industry (including / predominantly non binary and female)."
"These artists make up a community in Dublin which is an extremely supportive and inclusive space," the event description reads. "Sugarcoat Sessions aims to provide an active medium for this community to thrive, for connections to be made and for support to be given to emerging artists within this community."
Trophy Wife's Sugarcoat Sessions appearance follows her lauded performance on the Hot Press Y&E Series. The artist also known as Ruby Smyth, released her debut EP, Art, in 2020. Despite drawing influence from a wide range of musical influences – including jazz, pop and classic rock – her sound fits convincingly alongside her popular contemporaries, like King Princess, Clairo and Lizzo. Following the release of her acclaimed EP, Trophy Wife returned in June 2021 with her latest single, 'Good Love'.
22-year-old Dublin-based singer-songwriter and pianist Gemma Cox – who also previously appeared on the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions in 2020 – is also set to feature on the night. Following on from the release of her debut single 'Whale on My Shoulder', a collaboration with the Ulster Orchestra, and a performance at the Superior Sessions' summer concert at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in 2021, Gemma Cox will showcase her next releases live at the Sugarcoat
Sessions.

Dublin-based artist Lucy Rice, meanwhile, took on her Last Apollo moniker in the depths of lockdown – and in just over a year, has gone from an aspiring artist to serious one-to-watch. In addition to two well-received singles, she also played a sold-out headliner at Upstairs at Whelan's earlier this month.
