With the combination of the Live Performance Support Scheme and the success of the Government's test gigs at the Iveagh Gardens and the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, we are on the verge of a huge explosion of music activity. As part of our Summer of Music 2021 special feature, we spoke to some of the artists preparing to return to the stage...
LYRA
“I’m feeling a bit of everything when it comes to the return of live music! I’m obviously excited to get back on stage, because that’s the place I feel like myself the most. I love having that interaction with the audience. They’ve played a massive part in getting me to where I am today so that bond is always special. I won’t lie, I am nervous. I’ve been singing sitting on my sofa only dressed from the waist up (pjs on bottom) for the past year, so getting into a latex bra and high heels moving around the stage will be different!
I’ll be doing a headline tour, and I can’t bloody wait! I’m most looking forward to singing some of my new songs to an audience, being able to go to see some of my favourite artists live as I find it so inspiring for myself as an artist. Being able to socialise with my friends and have that feeling like life is starting again will be brilliant. I mean the list goes on – but I think I would take up the whole magazine!”
