They’ve been bigged up by techno goliaths Justice and have a huge homegrown fanbase. Now, finally, it looks like new material is on the way from electro duo Hystereo
Irish duo Hystereo just had their track ‘Corporate Crimewave’ name-checked by Justice on a Beatport chart, seven years after its release! So, it isn’t simply Irish fans awaiting a follow-up album from the lads – super-influential heavyweight producers are having their very own Hystereo cravings!
Fret not. I have an exclusive update – a new Hystereo LP is in the works, to be accompanied by EPs showcasing a different side to the outfit. Check out hystereo.com where you can find some free tracks and edits. Meanwhile, that Justice chart, which also bigs up the likes of Surkin and Jackson & His Computer, can be found at http://bit.ly/tFh78v.
In Cork, Fish Go Deep are celebrating their 23rd birthday on November 25 in The Pavilion. Survors from the giddy Sir Henry’s days, their mantra has always been “don’t be afraid to be different.” The duo’s Shane Johnson says: “Most of my favorite DJs are people that love to discover and share new music. That’s what started our journey and that’s what still drives us today”.
He adds: “We’re finishing an album project to be released during the first half of 2012. We’ve a record out now on Toronto’s Mixed Signals Music, and our own Go Deep label has picked up a track by David Kitt’s Spilly Walker side-project, ‘The Only Way Is Through The Music’.” See godeepmusic.com and fishgodeep.com.
Italian–Belgian producer Aeroplane touches down in Dublin on November 25 for a show in Crawdaddy. The one-man outfit prides himself on not being a slave to any particular BPM. His classically-trained musical muscles have been fully flexed recently, with remixes for the likes of Grace Jones, Friendly Fires and Sebastian Tellier, along with his own self-styled “piano-sprinkled melancholic beauties.”
The intimate show will feature his newly released in–flight entertainment mix. “The Irish are a good crowd,” Aeroplane enthuses. “It doesn’t matter if there are two or 2,000 of them, it’s always party time!” Check aeroplanemusic.be.
Imagine having to send your press release via-fax and advertise your parties through word of mouth. Sounds horrific doesn’t it! Well, that was the modus operandi when the 110th Street posse started their legendary parties in the late ‘90s. To this day they’re still selling-out without the help of social networking (gasp!). Join them as they celebrate their 13th birthday at Monroe’s, Galway on November 19.
In Derry news, Scroobius Pip, the lyrical half of dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip, makes a November 18 appearance in The Nerve Centre. “Expect to hear a load of stuff you haven’t experienced live before,” he tells Hot Press. “It’s my first chance to take my new record, Distraction Pieces, on the road with a full band. It’s been going amazingly well!” Check scroobiuspip.co.uk.
2manydjs make a November 18 visit to the Dublin Academy. Now, if you’ve heard about 2manydjs, then you most certainly aware of a little group by the name of Soulwax that the guys also head. They’ve just launched their Radio Soulwax Vimeo channel, which is jam-packed with tasty exclusives. See vimeo.com/radiosoulwax.
Dublin’s DJ Gordo, who’s just back from supporting Calvin Harris on his Irish tour, represented Ireland at the Smirnoff Night Life Exchange 2011. In celebration, he’s making his recent Dundalk Mansion Festival set available for free soundlcoud.com/gordoj/mansion download.
