All tracks are variations on the funky/disco meets beats/house theme with too many vocalists to give any real consistency
Sie had been round Howie B’s Pussyfoot block for quite a while, and only now he gets around to dropping his debut album. One can only imagine what he’s been up to. Anyway, Superprokid is, unfortunately, a bit of a non-event. The single, ‘Superprokid’, is great – a fun and funky slice of disco house from the big beat school of thought. And there are some decent numbers – the dubby/deep ‘Help Myself See’ with Earl Zinger, and the very accomplished ‘Bobby’ are decent, but apart from them, Sie is a wee bit short on ideas. All tracks are variations on the funky/disco meets beats/house theme with too many vocalists to give any real consistency. Ex-Auteur Luke Haines sounds like a poor man’s Neil Tennant on ‘Slave 2 Disco’, while too many of the others are just mediocre. Must try harder.
