System of a Down frontman and activist Serj Tankian, has announced a new memoir entitled Down With the System.

The new autobiography is set to be a no-holds-barred retrospective of Tankian's life and career; charting his childhood in Beirut to his decision to abandon his college education to pursue music, and the release of System of a Down's infamous sophomore record — which hit #1 on the morning of 9/11.

“Boom! – I wrote a new book,” wrote Tankian on his social media pages. “I had a blast working on this accidentally hatched philosophical memoir as it’s given me the unique opportunity to deep dive into my family history, my own motivations from9 a young age and lessons I didn’t know I had learned.”

System of a Down have not released a full album since 2005's Hypnotize, releasing their first songs in 15 years, 'Protect the Land' and 'Genoicidal Humanoidz' in 2020. The band made a singular live appearance this year, at Las Vegas’ inaugural Sick New World festival back in May. It was just announced that SOAD will be back to headline the second edition of Sick New World, taking place April 27th, 2024.

Known for his politically-driven lyrics and distinct vocal style, Tankian released his solo EP Perplex Cities last year.
