This week marks the biggest for the SZA yet, with her second album earning itself the fifth biggest debut of the year, most streamed R&B album in one week, and a no.1 spot on the Billboard 200.
SZA's second studio album SOS in its first week has earned 318,000 equivalent album units in the US, securing her place at the top of Billboard's 200.
Marking the singer’s biggest week to date, the follow up to 2017's Ctrl has earned itself the fifth biggest debut of the year, behind Taylor Swift’s Midnights, Harry Styles’ Harry’s House, Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss, and Beyoncé’s Renaissance.
The record’s numbers also mean that SOS is the most streamed R&B album in one week, with 404.58 million on-demand official streams of the LP’s tracks, tallying up to 309,500 SEA units. This has also landed SOS as the third most-streamed album in a week in 2022.
The 33-year-old’s debut album previously ranked no.3 in the charts in July of 2017 following its release.
The album features collaborations with Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott, Don Toliver, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Other contributors include ThankGod4Cody, Carter Lang, Jeff Bhasker, Benny Blanco, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, and Jay Versace.
