Tadhg Williams has announced a headline gig at The Cobblestone in Dublin on Sunday, 9th June to celebrate his return to music. Ahead the show, the Waterford folk virtuoso returns with his first release following a three year hiatus.
Out 19 April, ‘Nixer’ is a fast-paced folk track with a catchy hook and dynamic production which offers a biting commentary on how the cost of living crisis has affected Ireland’s youth in recent years.
“I suppose when you’re trying to support yourself in a city as expensive as Dublin, and you see your friends and colleagues trying to do the same, you realise why so many people are emigrating again," Williams says of the track. "‘Nixer’ is very much that story - of a city that’s being stripped of its culture and identity in favour of hotels and office blocks, and its people barely being able to afford to live in it anymore.”
In those three years, Tadhg has worked to develop his stage craft, supporting a variety of acts from Mary Black and The Stunning to Kingfishr and Niamh Regan. Having recently completed his undergraduate degree in history, his songwriting draws from a wealth of new inspiration. In 2023, a small Irish tour road-tested his music alongside a band, before going into the studio with producer, Geoff Warner-Clayton (Gavin James, Kingfishr, Driven Snow), to further develop and record some of these tracks.

Dubbed "a poet who conjures songs both humorous and moving, rich in humanity" by Junior Brother and "a man with many artistic pots on the boil" by David Keenan, Tadhg continues to build the anticipation for his sonic return, which culminates in his highly-anticipated set at The Cobblestone this June. It's a gig you certainly don't want to miss.
Tickets start from €15.00 including booking fees, and go on sale this Thursday, 11 April via Singular Artists.
