The Q&A will take place at the Toronto International Film Festival, moderated by filmmaker Spike Lee.
Talking Heads' David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison will reunite for the first time in over 20 years for a Q&A at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The Q&A, moderated by the award-winning filmmaker Spike Lee, will occur on 11th September in celebration of the 40th anniversary of their iconic concert film, Stop Making Sense. The 4K restoration of the film followed by the Q&A will be broadcasted live in select IMAX theatres around the world. The restoration will then arrive in theatres worldwide on 22nd September.
Along with the restoration, Talking Heads are releasing a special deluxe edition of its soundtrack including two previously unreleased songs, due to release on 18th August.

Directed by Jonathan Demme, Stop Making Sense was shot over four nights in December 1983 as Talking Heads were touring to promote their album Speaking in Tongues. It was inducted into the National Film Registry in 2021 and is widely considered one of the greatest concert films of all time.

The years since Talking Heads split in 1991 have seen turbulence between the former members. Frontman David Byrne has long been vocal about his resistance to the idea of a Talking Heads reunion, except for a brief reunion performance in 2002 when the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He's said that a comeback would "probably be quite a number of steps backwards," later explaining that the band had become "more work that we did, we didn’t hang out all the time anymore, so eventually you just kind of drift apart that way.”
Byrne was not the only member with something to say about the split: in Frantz's 2020 memoir, he accused Byrne of being unaware of those around him, and that Byrne "can’t imagine that anyone else would be important."
However, it seems that they have put aside any lingering discontent for the upcoming Q&A. But any Talking Heads-heads hoping this means new music from the band will likely be disappointed: as far as we know, the reunion is just for the Q&A.
