Two children are reported dead, as well as eleven injured, with six children and two adults remaining in critical condition.
A mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance event for kids in Southport, England on Monday has left two children dead, nine seriously injured – six of whom are reportedly in critical condition – and two adults in critical care.
A 17-year-old boy has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, with police saying the motive remains unclear, although the incident is believed to be isolated and ruled out as a terrorist attack.
Chief Constable Serena Kennedy told the BBC: “It is understood that the children were attending a Taylor Swift event at a dance school when the offender armed with a knife walked into the premises and started to attack the children.
“We believe that the adults who were injured were bravely trying to protect the children who were being attacked.”

Taylor Swift has issued a statement on Instagram, saying that the horror of the attack is “washing over me continuously.”
“I’m just completely in shock,” she continued. “The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders.
“These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”
King Charles has also issued a statement on social media, writing: “My wife and I have been profoundly shocked to hear of the utterly horrific incident in Southport today.
“We send our most heartfelt condolences, prayers and deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those who have so tragically lost their lives, and to all those affected by this truly appalling attack.”
