"I found that the more music I made [and] the more music I put out, the happier I was," Swift said on the night. "I have the fans to thank, essentially, for my happiness..."
Taylor Swift's wins at this year's American Music Awards (AMAs) included the prestigious Artist of the Year Award - her seventh win in that category - along with Favourite Female Pop Artist, Favourite Pop Album, Favourite Female Country Artist and Album, making her the most decorated artist in AMA history.
In her acceptance speech for Artist of the Year, the singer-songwriter dedicated her win to her fans, stating, "In the past few years, I have released more music than I did in the decade preceding that”, owing her enormous output of music to her fans’ encouragement and demands.
"I really feel like that’s down to the fact that you, the fans, made it clear that you wanted to hear lots of music … I found that the more music I made [and] the more music I put out, the happier I was. I have the fans to thank, essentially, for my happiness. I love you more than I can say.”
Her music video for ‘All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)’, took home Favourite Music Video.
Over the past two years, the 32-year-old has released three new studio albums, and two re-recordings of Fearless and Red, originally released in 2008 and 2012 respectively.

This followed a dispute with her former label, Big Machine Records over the masters of her first six albums. Beginning in April 2021 with Fearless, Swift is planning to re-record all six albums in order to reclaim the rights to her former tracks, in the hope these new recordings will overtake the originals.
Some of the night’s performances included those by Pink, Dove Cameron, Bebe Rexha, Carrie Underwood and Imagine Dragons.
Other winners of the night included Beyoncé, unsurprisingly taking the award for Favourite Female R’n’B Artist and Favourite R’n’B Album for her album Renaissance.
Elton John won Collaboration of the Year for ‘Cold Heart-PNAU Remix’ with Dua Lipa, taking home his first AMA since 1988.
Lionel Richie was the recipient of this year’s Icon Award for his contribution to the music industry over the course of his lengthy career.
Other notable mentions include Harry Styles who won Favourite Male Artist, and took home the award for Favourite Pop Song for ‘As It Was’. Kendrick Lamar won Favourite Male Hip-Hop Artist and Favourite Hip-Hop Album for Mr.Morale and The Big Steppers. Favourite K-Pop Artist went to BTS and Favourite Rock Artist’s winner was Machine Gun Kelly.
