Famous last words
There is a moment at the start of The Last of Us when the apocalypse is kicking off and protagonist Joel passes a family pleading for help on the side of the road. Rather than stop to help them, he opts to keep driving and protect the ones he loves: a scene that foreshadows his actions later in the adventure. Joel may not be the most likeable soul, but his acts are always believable. With well-formed characters, plot twists and turns, The Last of Us is more like a great TV drama than a regular game.
This next-gen reboot presents the graphics in 1080p at 60 frames per second. The wrecked world of the future – nature ripping through the cracks of civilisation – looks stunning. Bonus content includes a director commentary, a “making of” documentary, a prequel story (Left Behind), multiplayer maps, and the ability to take Instagram-esque snaps of the action.
This cash cow is getting milked, for sure, but it’s so good you’ll happily moo one last time.
