The duo faced calls to be deported from an Australian senator, after a remark about the failed assassination of Donald Trump
Tenacious D have postponed a gig in Newcastle, New South Wales, after a senator made calls for them to be deported over remarks made by Kyle Gass about Donald Trump.
After singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to him during their July 14 Sydney performance, lead singer Jack Black asked bandmate Kyle Gass his birthday wish, to which Gass replied “don’t miss Trump next time”.
The comment was in reference to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, where a shooter fired at him, but only managed to graze his ear.
Following the concert, Australian Senator Ralph Babet, who has been a vocal supporter of Trump on social media, said in a statement that the duo should be “immediately removed from the country”.
“This was not a joke, he was deadly serious when he wished for the death of the President” he claimed.
