The 1975 are Hot Press' October dual-cover stars. Read the interview below.
The 1975's critically acclaimed new album Being Funny In A Foreign Language, which was released last Friday, October 14, via Dirty Hit, has taken the No.1 album spot in Ireland this week.
With singles like 'Happiness', 'Part Of The Band' and 'All I Need To Hear', the project is quick to become a fan favourite.
To celebrate the release of their fifth studio affair and radiant follow-up to 2020's Notes On A Conditional Form, the four-piece have unveiled a brand new live session of 'Oh Caroline'. The ethereal performance is the first in a series of three videos with VEVO - watch below.
Frontman Matty Healy discussed their new album with Stuart Clark for the Hot Press October issue, saying that it was "like going to the theatre. It’s way more intimate and an experience as opposed to a construct.”

Being Funny In A Foreign Language also takes lyrical pot-shots at Brexit Britain and the Conservative government.
"I do believe there are people who on a psychological level are philistines," Healy revealed. "I can just see by the way you are that you’ve been transformed by cultural moments like records or live performances that reach for something bigger. There are people who, at whatever age, hear Blue by Joni Mitchell or a Bob Dylan album and are forever changed. They’re kind of the civilising agents in our society. It’s not that the people in charge of culture aren’t cool, sexy and suave: it’s that they’ve never been transformed like you and I have."
The 1975 are set to bring their upcoming At Their Very Best world tour to Ireland, with shows at Dublin's 3Arena on Sunday, 29th January 2023, and at The SSE Arena in Belfast the following day, on Monday, 30th January 2023. The band are kicking off their tour with dates across the US in November and December, followed by a run of shows in the UK and Ireland in January 2023, and in Japan, Australia and New Zealand in April.
The group, who formed in Manchester in 2002, made their long-awaited live comeback in August 2022, headlining Japan’s biggest rock festival Summer Sonic 2022 in Tokyo and Osaka, ahead of two triumphant homecoming headline slots at Reading and Leeds Festival.
Their previous LP, 2020's Notes On A Conditional Form, became their fourth consecutive No.1 album in the UK, also taking the top spot in Australia. The 1975 were named Best Group at the BRIT Awards in both 2017 and 2019, and NME's Band of the Decade in 2020.
