The Japanese House’s new album, In The End It Always Does, is due to drop June 30th.
Indie pop artist, The Japanese House, has teamed up with The 1975’s Matty Healy for their new single, ‘Sunshine Baby’, the latest to drop from her upcoming album.
The British singer-songwriter, whose real name is Amber Mary Bain, is due to release In The End It Always Does on June 30th. The collaboration with Healy is the third track taken from Bain’s upcoming record. Dedicated to her beloved pet, The Japanese House and the 1975 singer have succeeded in creating a dreamy, nostalgia pop track.
In a statement released by Bain, the singer details how the new song is named after a pet name she used for her dog, with the song lyrically centring around themes of separation, and the end of a romantic relationship.
‘Sunshine Baby’ is my nickname for my dog, and my ex and I always used to lay on the beach together being sunshine babies,” the indie artist explained.
“The chorus is kind of a submission to the end of our relationship, but singing it in a positive light. There’s a transience in part of a relationship, and in the circle of everything it comes back around.”

Healy can be heard in the song’s hook, singing, “Sitting in the backseat/Driving with my sunshine baby/We’ll have gone a little crazy/ Surely someone’s gonna save me.”
