The well-loved Irish indie-rockers have been announced to have joined the lineup just days before the festival is set to kick off.
More last-minute Electric Picnic lineup news: Indie rockers The Academic have been announced to be playing the highly anticipated Irish festival this weekend.
The Mullingar-based band have had a very busy year: off a string of UK dates in February, they played a highly anticipated Dublin date at the 3Olympia in March to celebrate the release of their sophomore album, Sitting Pretty. More recently, they headlined Bulmers Live At Leopardstown in July, and before that had just come back for their own North American tour.
They also opened for Louis Tomlinson this year during the US dates of his tour and are set to return to Dublin to open for the singer this November.
The Academic have built up quite a following since their debut in 2018, transforming from a Kings Of Leon pub cover band into one of the biggest bands to come out of Ireland recently. Sitting Pretty achieved the band's first Number One on the Official Irish Albums Charts, and they've also supported internationally loved artists like The Killers, Noel Gallagher, The Pixies, and The Rolling Stones.
