Indie-rockers, The Academic have just been announced as the latest headline act for Bulmers Live At Leopardstown on July 27th. This will be the Mullingar-based band’s only headline show this summer.
Their upcoming July performance is coming off the back of their own North American tour, and opening for former One Direction member, Louis Tomlinson, during his US dates.
Speaking on their upcoming headline date, the four-piece outfit said, “We are very excited to be playing Bulmers Live at Leopardstown. We have been on tour across the world this year and it will be great to be back on homeground this summer for our only show in Dublin."
With more acts due to be revealed over the coming weeks, this is the third headliner announcement for the Bulmers series. The Academic join fellow headliners, Wild Youth (June 8th), former buskers Keywest (June 15th), DJ Mark McCabe (June 22nd), Berlin-based artist Wallis Bird (13th July), and punk-rockers The Undertones (20th July).
Eight nights of music entertainment with top international and Irish music acts will follow the racing taking place each day at Leopardstown.

Band members, Craig Fitzgerald, Stephen Murtagh, Matthew Murtagh and Dean Gavin have already had a hectic 2023. Their sophomore album, Sitting Pretty, landed Number One on the Official Irish Albums Charts. The four-piece fought off fierce competition from both Paramore and Taylor Swift to secure the top spot for the follow-up to their 2018 debut, Tales From The Backseat- their first Number One.
Since performing Kings Of Leon covers in their local pub in 2013, the four friends have gone from strength to strength, having since supported acts like The Pixies, The Rolling Stones, Noel Gallagher and The Killers, as well as performing for US President Joe Biden during his recent visit in April.
The Academic will join a list of previous performers at Leopardstown which include Razorlight, Gavin James and Imelda May (2022), All Saints, Waterboys and Coolio (2019), Smokie, Happy Mondays and Paul Young (2018) Sister Sledge (2017), Boomtown Rats (2016) and The Human League (2015).
