The Chainsmokers electrify the RDS Arena on a perfect day, in every kind of way!
After touring Europe and a variety of stations around the globe already this year, finally it was now Dublin’s turn to welcome the EDM giants at the RDS on a lovely sunday in the south of Ireland’s capital.
The American EDM-pop duo, consisting of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart, achieved a breakthrough with '#Selfie' four years ago, which was a top twenty single in several countries. Since then the well-known duo started cresting the EDM throne, with milestones along the way such as 'Something just like this', a collaborative single with Coldplay, or their first singles this year named 'Sick Boy' and 'You Owe Me'.
Rita Orah was the last act to finally hype up the party-folks for The Chainsmokers, fulfilling that role to the absolute best. It was exactly at 20:59 when the first tone of their single ‘Sick Boy’, released in January this year, waved through the speakers in the RDS, followed by irresistible enthusiasm of the crowd. Everyone knew: It is on!
The dynamic duo delivered an energetic and diversified show from the very beginning. The stage setting was used to display various video graphic elements, perfectly aligned to every song and beat.
In addition to the show delivered, fireworks and fire-elements kicked it up a notch and lead the party-folks to countless moments of sheer joy.
As expected, Alex Pall spend more time behind the long and massive DJ-Set, producing smooth transitions from one song to another, amazing the crowd and playing with them. His counterpart Andrew Taggart, known as the vocal part from the NYC-duo, took a more active part. Proving his beautiful voice once again, he interacted with the crowd, dancing and jumping on top of the set but also assisted his brilliant colleague behind the set.

The first half of their powerful show was loaded with lots of their best hits like ‘Sick Boy’, ‘Don’t let me down’, ‘Everybody hates me’, ‘Something just like this’ or ‘Roses’ but also featured other crackers like ‘What is love?’ or ‘love yourself’, turned into Chainsmokers style.
Halfway through the show, Taggart made his way off the set onto the runway that lead into the crowd, returning with an Irish flag which displayed the letters ‘tcs’ in it, short for the band’s name. Hugely celebrated by the crowd, Taggart kept the flag with him. A small, yet powerful and amusing gesture.
Firing out various hits in their first part of the show, the second part was dominated by a lot of creative mixes and fast energetic beats, turning the RDS into one big dance floor.
Just like the sun made it a day with perfect conditions for good vibes and a joyful time, the Chainsmokers grasped this moment and turned it into something even bigger, turning the RDS into one big party, enjoying their time on stage to the fullest, just like the crowd did.
