The Darkness’ new album 'Motorheart' is set for release on 19th November.
The Darkness have announced plans to bring their visceral 'Motorheart' tour to the 3Olympia Theatre on February 27th, 2022.
“The time has come, the walrus said… to put your fookin' pants on your head and rock like Satan is eating your private parts with a pointy fork! Yes, we, The Darkness, are the fuck back on tour, praise Satan’s better half...come and party with us like it’s the last orders at the last chance saloon," the band wrote in a press release of their live dates.
Formed in Lowestoft in 2000; the band consists of Justin Hawkins, his brother Dan Hawkins, Frankie Poullain and Rufus Tiger Taylor. The Darkness came to prominence with the release of their debut album, Permission to Land, in 2003. Backed by the singles 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love', 'Growing on Me', 'Get Your Hands off My Woman', and 'Love Is Only a Feeling', the album was certified quadruple platinum in the UK with sales of over 1.3 million. In 2004, the band won three Brit Awards: Best British Group, Best British Rock Act, and Best British Album.
The band's second studio album, One Way Ticket to Hell... and Back, was released in November 2005. After Frankie Poullain and Justin Hawkins left the band, they later reunited in 2011 for a string of shows. Their third album, Hot Cakes, was released on 20 August 2012. Original drummer Ed Graham then left the band, with fourth album Last of Our Kind released in 2015. Pinewood Smile (2017), Live at Hammersmith (2018) and 2019's Easter Is Cancelled were all shared before the Coronavirus pandemic put a stop to their 2020 world tour.
The band wound up the year with a one-off streamed live show titled 'Streaming of a White Christmas', which was also recorded as a new live album and slated to be released on CD and vinyl in June 2021.
