Following their latest album, Donegal's The Henry Girls launch two songs in celebration of Saint Brigid's Day
Irish folk group The Henry Girls have released two new songs, ‘Goddess of the Gael’ and ‘The Fiery Arrow.’
The tracks were written following a performance at She Moves Through The Fair - a concert in St Brigid’s Cathedral as part of the Brigid 1500 festival last year.
“Happy St. Brigid’s Day!” the band writes on social media. “In 2024, we were honoured to perform at St. Brigid’s Cathedral in Kildare and wrote ‘Goddess of Gael’ and jig ‘The Fiery Arrow’ for the occasion.”
The Henry Girls, sisters Karen, Lorna and Joleen McLaughlin, debuted with their first album Between Us in 2003. Since then, they have produced new LPs every two to four years.
The group’s most recent album, A Time To Grow, launched in early 2024. In a Hot Press review of the album, Jackie Hayden writes: “Donegal’s Henry Girls trio can mastermind harmonies warm enough to heat your hands on a cold day.”

The art that accompanies this latest release was crafted by Derry native Roisin O’Donnell. The lino print artwork features oak trees, snow drops, a crescent moon - all symbols associated with the power of Saint Brigid.
