News and gossip from the domestic front with Roisin Dwyer.
Electric Picnic may be over but there’s lots to tide us over in the weeks before Hard Working Class Heroes…Butterfly Explosion impressed band and punters when they supported The Like recently in Crawdaddy. They will return to the venue on September 29 to launch their highly-anticipated new EP Turn The Sky. There will be a blast of live activity over the next few weeks which will include shows in Cyprus Avenue, Cork on September 15 with Neosupervital, the Music Factory in Carlow the following night, a trip to the UK to play London’s Barfly on September 18 and an appearance at The Stables in Mullingar with Glenwash and Cowboy X on September 23…phew!
TKO also have lots of live action lined up over the next few weeks as they continue touring in support of the recently-released single 'Let’s Go', still on sale in Tower, Golden Discs, Road Records and all good record stores. Check hotpress.com for tour dates.
A reminder to all that the new Royseven single 'Older' is out on September 8. Tour dates in support of the album The Art Of Insincerity (October 20) are as yet unconfirmed but there will be a show in the Roisin Dubh on October 19 – will keep you posted on the rest
Leanne Harte has just released her debut long-player (see album reviews for the verdict). Produced by Chris Tsangarides, (Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Joan Armatrading, Depeche Mode) the album is already causing quite a stir especially in the US, where a college tour is in the pipeline.
Emmett Tinley returns from a songwriting spree in Copenhagen for a flurry of live dates next month starting in Dublin on September 22 and taking in Cork, Limerick and Galway.
Congrats to Big Buzz Award winners Cuckoo Rass who scooped the prestigious Best new Irish Rock Act Award at the lavish ceremony in the Millenium Forum in Derry recently. And finally in ‘well worth the wait news” is Desert Hearts whose splendid album Hotsy Totsy Nagasaki will at last be available from mid-September on Gargle Blast Record…happy days…
