Following the recent 40th anniversary of JFK our airwaves were chock-a-block with old footage of everyone’s fave president, his tragic death and a plethora of theories on the dodgy circumstances surrounding his end… and top-notch viewing it made too.
Meanwhile, in the music world a conspiracy of another sort was taking place – certain individuals were readying themselves to unleash their collective talent on an unsuspecting public. The result was The Coldspoon Conspiracy’s first album Plays Well With Others, now available on Greyslate/Vernacular records. The 12-track masterpiece is available from Tower and Road. The Nerve Centre is currently seeking applicants for its award winning courses as part of its Creative Industries Training Programme. The programme will provide full accredited training opportunities in multimedia, sound recording, media techniques and music business and technology. City of the Tribes’ resident and DJ extraordinaire Jon Richards has just returned from his visit to the US where he completed the mammoth task that is New York City Marathon. On a festive note Limerick’s giveamanakick and Cork’s Rest will be releasing a wonderful split Christmassy CD-R together in the coming month. giveamanakick will be murdering Shakin’ Stevens ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’, and Rest will be tacklin ‘The Snowman (Walking in the Air)’. Congratulations to Niall from Rulers Of The Planet on the birth of his daughter Leah. On the subect of additions, the Irish Unsigned Directory has gotten bigger and bolder. It now features not only Irish bands (currently over 180), but also international bands, promoter and record label listings.
