The UK band join a growing list of public figures and artists who have left X since Elon Musk took over the platform in 2022.
The Last Dinner Party have become the latest act to part ways with X/Twitter due to the platform’s “spread of misinformation and right-wing political bias”.
Since Elon Musk took over Twitter and renamed it X in 2022, the platform has come under scrutiny for proliferating misinformation and right-wing content. A number of public figures, among them Elton John, Whoopi Goldberg, Neil Young and KISS’ Gene Simmons all quit the platform shortly after Musk’s takeover.
The Last Dinner Party’s X departure comes at a time when organisations such as the Berlin Film Festival and publications like The Guardian have announced they will stop posting on X due to the “often disturbing content promoted” on the Musk-owned platform.
In deciding to join the masses, the UK band have left the site after Trump’s re-election following a spike in hateful content, particularly of a misogynistic and racist nature.

The Last Dinner Party made a name for themselves following the release of their debut album, Prelude To Ecstasy, which soared to No. 1 on the UK charts after dropping in February 2024. Hot Press’ Pat Carty called it a “record bursting at the seams with vaulting, magnificent, and refreshing ambition”.
They’ve been on the live circuit ever since, performing a two night stint at 3Olympia Theatre in October. They were also recently confirmed to be the openers for Olivia Rodrigo at her largest UK show to date at BST Hyde Park 2025.
