The British rock band’s fourth studio LP, All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade, could become their first No.1 record in the U.K. since their self-titled 2004 album.
Just three days after its release, The Libertines are on their way to see their fourth studio album hit No.1 on the U.K charts, while securing its place as BBC Radio 2’s album of the week.
All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade, which was rated 9/10 by Hot Press, is an eleven track record which comprises three singles, all accompanied by music videos, namely ‘Run, Run, Run,’ a sharp and catchy punk anthem, as well as ‘Shiver’ and ‘Night of the Hunter.’ It was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Dimitri Tikovoï (The Horrors, Charli XCX, Becky Hill) and recorded at The Albion Rooms in Margate.

In an interview for Hot Press in February, co-frontman Pete Doherty joked about the conception of this album, which partly took place during their sessions in Geejam Port Antonio, Jamaica: “It could have easily just descended into paddle-boarding, cocaine and rum but, no, we knuckled down and got some serious work done.
“Actually, there was some paddle-boarding and quite a bit of rum so we did Shaun Ryder moderately proud.”
The Libertines will be playing in Dublin’s 3Olympia on September 23 and Belfast’s Telegraph building on September 24. Although their Dublin show is already sold out, tickets for their northern-Irish gig retail from £44.00 and are available here.
