The phenomenal Irish folk band The Mary Wallopers announce two shows at the Academy, Dublin during the June bank holiday weekend after performing on RTÉ's The Late Late Show last Friday
Fresh from a Late Late show appearance, the Dundalk band has some exciting news. Ryan Tubridy said that "The world right now needs the Mary Wallopers, ain't that the truth," and The Mary Wallopers have delivered.
The Irish folk band just announced that they have two new shows coming in early June.
The shows will be a bank holiday weekend special, coming to the Academy, Dublin on Saturday, June 3rd and on Sunday, June 4th.
On The Late Late Show, The Mary Wallopers played their song 'Elieen ÓG' from their self-titled debut LP. A "unique and joyous vision" of traditional Irish music, filled with raw, hopping energy, The Mary Wallopers hit No. 2 in the indie chart on vinyl and CD this year.
The Mary Wallopers started as a travelling Irish ballad group before COVID hit, releasing a five-track EP in 2019: A Mouthful of The Mary Wallopers. When COVID did hit, the trio didn't let that stop them, building a studio and pub in their house and hosting a live stream on St. Patrick's Day in 2020.

Their DIY broadcasts propelled them to new horizons, revitalising their growing fan-base in a dark, turbulent time. When the pandemic ended, the Irish ballad band had amassed enough of an audience to headline a tour in the UK.
Originally just the trio of two brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy and their friend Sean McKenna, they added four more members. Roisin Barret came in on bass, Ken Mooney on teh drums, Seamas Hyland on accordion, and Finian O'Connor on the tin whistle.
Now, The Mary Wallopers play to chaotic, raging audiences at venues like Vicar Street, Dublin and the sold-out Electric Ballroom in Camden at the end of their UK tour.
Tickets for the June shows go on sale this Friday, March 3rd, at 9:30 AM GMT.
