The EP will include renditions of 'Home Boys Home', 'The Bonny Ship The Diamond’, and The Pogues' 'The Broad Majestic Shannon'
Eight months after the release of their acclaimed second album, Irish Rock N Roll, The Mary Wallopers are set to return with a brand new EP, Home Boys Home, this Friday, June 21.
"We hope ye love it as much as we do," the band wrote online this morning, as they announced the project.
Their social media post featured snippets of the songs set to feature on the EP – including renditions of 'Home Boys Home', 'The Bonny Ship The Diamond’, and The Pogues' 'The Broad Majestic Shannon'. They previously performed the title track live from a boat in Co. Mayo during Other Voices Ballina.
The announcement follows their appearance on Jo Whiley's Sofa Sessions on BBC Radio 2 last night – during which they played a cover of The Undertones' 'My Perfect Cousin'.
Irish Rock N Roll was released in October 2023, and debuted on the Official Irish Albums Chart at No.2. The LP was described in Hot Press as "an essential step-up for one of the most defiant, and inherently honest, forces in modern Irish music."
