The National Concert Hall has announce an eclectic array of performances as part of its Perspectives Series for 2024/25.
The National Concert Hall has announced Grammy Award-winning composer/vocalist Arooj Aftab, Performance Artist CHRISTEENE with Peaches & David Hoyle, Blue - the Derek Jarman Film with a new live Score, jazz pioneers The Marcin Wasilewski Trio and more as part of its Perspectives Series.
The Perspectives series kicks off on Sunday 13 October with Brooklyn-based Pakistani composer, songwriter and vocalist Arooj Aftab who will perform tracks from her latest album Night Reign , her Grammy Award-winning record Vulture Prince and more. Aftab’s unique musical style blends classical minimalism, new age, electronic trance and jazz structures.
The celebrated Marcin Wasilewski Trio’s date on Thursday 17 October will form part of the group's 30th anniversary tour. Their remarkable journey includes collaborations with jazz luminaries like Tomasz Stanko, Joe Lovano, Charles Lloyd and more, along with the release of seven exceptional albums on ECM Records.
On Sunday 27 October drag artist CHRISTEENE presents a critique of our current political and social climate in a show that pays homage to Sinéad O’Connor and her powerful debut
The Lion and The Cobra. This unified response to ideologies that threaten our way of life sees CHRISTEENE joined by the inimitable Peaches and the dynamic David Hoyle plus her band and dancers.

Saturday 23 November will see a one-off live screening of Derek Jarman’s Blue with a new original score by composer Simon Fisher Turner featuring a cast of Travis Alabanza, Russell Tovey, Jay Bernard, Joelle Taylor who will together deliver Jarman’s powerful words. The film captures a continuous single shot of the colour blue, as Derek Jarman reflects on his AIDS-related illness.
The new live version is directed by acclaimed theatre director, Neil Bartlett. This will be an ISL-interpreted performance.
Looking further ahead, 2025 will see musician and storyteller Gabriel Kahane and Pulitzer-prize winning composer Caroline Shaw present their new work inspired by the magical realism of Jorge Luis Borges on Tuesday 11 March. The concert, titled Hexagons, is influenced by Borges’ short story The Library of Babel.
On Thursday 1 May, New York saxophonist Oded Tzúr brings his distinguished quartet to the NCH Studio. The concert sees the group present their new ECM album My Prophet, another triumphant collection of songs by Tzúr, the torchbearer of spiritual jazz.
