In addition to a gig at 3Arena in Dublin, the upcoming world tour includes several shows in the UK.
The National just released their second single 'New Order T-Shirt‘ from their upcoming studio album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein.
The ninth studio album releases on 28th April and features artists such as Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Sufjan Stevens. In addition, a world tour has been announced that includes a gig at 3Arena in Dublin.
'New Order T-Shirt' is a mostly calm but also hypnotic track about singer Matt Berninger's detailed memories of someone he misses and his heavy-hearted resolutions.
“How we wove through the cones walking home / To the place on Atlantic you shared with your hilarious sister / Kicking off your black flats, demolished and laughing / I keep what I can of you,” the frontman sings.
“To me the line ‘I keep what I can of you’ means something about everyone I’ve ever known or loved,” founding member Aaron Dessner said.

“There’s a simplicity to ‘New Order T-Shirt’ that reminds me of our earlier records, but with the full maturity and experience we have now. It feels like a really important song for the future of our band.”

The band collaborated with New Order to bring out a limited-edition 'New Order T-shirt' that pays homage to the Manchester band‘s iconic album designs. Some parts of the proceeds from the merchandise go to a charity that The National has chosen.
The upcoming album features 11 songs and was produced by The National themselves at Long Pond Studios in upstate New York. Tracks like 'Grease in Your Hair' and 'Ice Machines' were road-tested in 2022 before being recorded to get the best out of them.
"To me, the power of this record has to do with the intentionality and structure of the music meeting with a lot of accidental magic," Aaron Dessner added.
The 2023 world tour will kick off with a May 18–21 stand in Chicago. It includes the band‘s first show at New York‘s Madison Square Garden on August 18. For the gig in Dublin, The National features opening sets from Soccer Mommy, The Beths, and Bartees Strange.
